What is a Popsicle?

The word popsicle was formed by taking ‘pops‘ from the word ‘pop’ and adding the ending of ‘sicle‘, which was found in a dictionary. The name came about after inventor Ernest Hamwi was asked to devise a way to keep ice cream from melting on a stick, thus creating the Popsicle.

In 1905, an 11-year old boy named Frank Epperson left a cup of soda with a stir stick in it outside. It was a very cold night and when he woke up the next morning, he discovered that the soda had frozen to the stick. Epperson shared his discovery with kids in his neighborhood and one day, he began selling them for a penny each from a wooden pushcart.

In 1922, Frank opened up an ice cream shop in San Francisco where he sold his Popsicles from a small freezer at the front of the store.

Simple Homemade Healthy Popsicle Recipe

Ingredients:

4 cups of Watermelon cubes or pieces, chilled.

5 Strawberries, chopped. 1/3 cup Water.

Procedure:

1)Take a blender and add the watermelon cubes to it. Blend them until they are smooth in consistency.

2)Now take another bowl and add the chopped strawberries to them.

3)Next, add the watermelon puree to the chopped strawberries and mix well so that both are combined completely.

4)Now pour this mixture into Popsicle molds or even ice tray moulds will also do the trick.

5)Insert a stick in each of the moulds and let it freeze until it is set completely.
